Sam Walton, Made in America
If you want to read a great book about how a businessman started from nothing to building the largest retail company in the world (Wal-Mart), then you need to get yourself a copy of “Sam Walton Made in America.” The book is basically an autobiography of Sam’s life and how he never gave up when people told him to stop trying.
Here are a few of the most helpful lessons that I got directly from the book:
COMMIT to your business. Believe in it more that anybody else. Be out there everyday trying to do it the best you possibly can, and pretty soon everybody around you will catch the passion from you – live a fever.
LISTEN to everyone in your company (clients). And figure out ways to get them talking.
CELEBRATE your success. Find some humor in your failures. Don’t take yourself so seriously. Loosen up and everyone around you will loosen up.
