Dream Away

When Howard Hughes was a young boy he told his mother that one day he’d be the richest man in the world. He dreamed of flying all over the world one day. Howard Hughes accomplished his dreams and so much more in his lifetime. Without his dreams, he would’ve never attained the success that he did.

Ever stare off into the horizon wondering how far the water reached? Ever gaze into the stars and ask when does the darkness end? Ever dream of things that seem so impossible that people would think that you’re crazy if you shared it with them?

If you’ve had these thoughts, then your mind in ripe for creating; ripe for changing the world; ripe for making the impossible possible.

Einstein once said “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” Oh boy was he right. Everything you know, everything you’ve read, everything you’ve heard in life doesn’t mean a thing if you can’t imagine.

As an entrepreneur you should constantly be dreaming and focusing on your goals. Take a few minutes everyday to reflect on the possibilities of what you’re trying to accomplish. Think about the current path that your business is on and how you can elevate your position to new levels.

Seek new environments to work and think – change up your surroundings. This will allow you to begin thinking in different ways, in ways that your mind isn’t used to thinking which can produce very creative thoughts. Never stay in the same spot. Your mind is constantly moving so constantly change your surroundings.

Go on a vacation. Go visit an old friend. Move your desk to a new section of your office. Basically, just keep things moving in your life and your dreams will continue to move in new directions as well.

A few hundred years ago someone would’ve thought you were insane if you had ideas of creating a vessel with wings that would allow us to fly or if you thought of creating a machine that could send a man to the moon. These once crazy thoughts are now realities: planes and rockets.

These people who had these thoughts were considered crazy, but yet their ideas have created some of the most brilliant creations in the world. So what does that tell us? It tells us that you have to be crazy in order to imagine something magnificent.

You have to create new paths instead of going down ones already walked. Entrepreneurs should never wait for the future, they should create the future. So keep on dreaming and thinking beyond the limits imposed by society.

If you can conceive it then you can create it.

[…] I’ve lost thousands of dollars in venture, endless hours in time, and countless days of not being out with my friends, and you know what…? I’ll happily continue to do so. Like Howard Hughes losing millions of dollars of his own money to fulfill his dreams, I am also willing to lose things in order to achieve my ultimate goals. I hope you are willing as well. […]

[…] The entrepreneur must become an artist to some degree. Howard Hughes, one of America’s first billionaires (possibly the first) did just that: draw and sketch all day long. Whenever he had an idea, he laid it down on paper and went from there. […]
