Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill

Napoleon Hill wrote “Think and Grow Rich.” After reading this book my mind was seriously on a whole different level, it was that good. The book pretty much touches on everything: desire, motivation, positive thinking, hard work, brainstorming, imagination, being creative, leadership, conquering your fears, and the list goes on….

One of my favorite chapters is the one on imagination which basically deals with thinking of what you want out of life, focusing on it, and then making it happen.

Napoleon teaches us that you have to live your life without hesitation of making your dreams a reality. You can’t wait for success, you have to go out there and make it happen — it all begins in the mind.

I’ll leave you with some quotes from the book:

It was no ordinary desire that survived disappointment, discouragement, temporary defeat, criticism, and the constant reminding of “waste of time.” It was a burning desire! An obsession!

Ideas are intangible forces, but they have more power than the physical brains that give birth to them. They have the power to live on, after the brain that creates them has turned to dust.

This book should be in the shelf of any entrepreneur’s library.

This great book should definitely be in every entrepreneur’s library. There are several editions of “Think and Grow Rich” available. My personal favorite is “Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored and Revised,” edited by Ross Cornwell, who restored parts of Napoleon Hill’s original 1937 manuscript that were cut out of the book in the 1960s. (The book shown above is that “abridged” version. It also has a lot of obsolete terminology and comments that today would be considered racist or sexist.) Mr. Cornwell has also annotated the book (more than 170 endnotes) and added extremely useful features such as an appendix and a complete index of the book — something it had never had in all the years it has been published. This book goes into my briefcase every time I go to work, go home from work, or travel. Not a day passes that I do not study up on one of the 13 Steps to Riches. The book is really indispensable.
