Beach and Business
Summer is almost here and it’ll soon be time to go to the beach — awesome! BUT, let’s not forget that summer is one of the best times of the year to expand or start a business. Why? Because school’s out and there are a lot less obligations for most of us around this time.
During the summer you’ll have more time to concentrate on your passions and your goals. If you plan on working a part-time job, then make sure that you’re also networking there as much as possible. Always, always, finds ways to somehow help your business grow when you’re working for another company; so make sure to step up your networking game this summer. If you’re not NET-working, then you’ll just be WORKING.
I’m sure there will be barbeques, parties, and family gatherings for you to attend, so why not bring some business cards to share with the people you come across. Of course, make sure to have fun and relax, but if the subject of “what are you doing with your time this summer?” happens to come up, then be sure to tell people what you’re doing with your company and possibly how it can help them.
For many young entrepreneurs, the summer will be a time for you to start your first business. Two summers ago I started my first business in my room at home in Long Island. I was able to get a tremendous amount of work done that summer, but more importantly, that was the summer that I really laid the foundation for my business – priceless.
It’s up to you how you wish to spend your summer days, but it would be wise to try and create something with your time, anything. Don’t be one of those bums who just sit around all day wasting time. Use this extra time to your advantage and don’t take it for granted.
School is out and all of those professors are finally off your back. It’s time for you to kick your business into a higher gear. Or if you’re just starting out, then it’s time to get to the drawing table and start planning out your map to success.

Good post. I agree, the summer is the time that a college entrepreneur can make or break their venture. Use the time wisely! Every business I have started began in the summer time and I plan on continuing that trend this summer:)
