- A person who has an exceptionally high intelligence quotient, typically above 140.
Above is the dictionary.com definition of the word “genius.” So what do you think a genius is? Many believe that a genius is someone with an extremely high mathematical ability. Others believe that it’s someone who can figure out complex puzzles and situations.
True… those are just some aspects of what a genius is. I guess so….
But here’s the problem: many entrepreneurs have fallen victim into believing that they aren’t geniuses because they never won the mathematics contest or excelled in physics at college.
You know what I have to say about that? Who the fu*k cares!
Com’on on guys, there are all types of geniuses out there, and quite frankly, I truly believe that entrepreneurs are the ones who hold the truly “genius” and brilliant ideas.
Don’t be fooled into thinking that you aren’t a genius just because some numbers on a piece of paper say that you aren’t – that’s rubbish! What we entrepreneurs are doing is absolutely genius!
We are excellent in what we know best – our businesses. We are creating new ideas through rigorous brainstorming, we are innovating powerful solutions to change the world, and we are building with one another and using the power of synergy to create mind-blowing services, application, content, the list goes on….
Heck, look at the number one definition of the word: “Extraordinary intellectual and creative power.” That first definition says it all. It’s all in the creativity and as a young entrepreneur you’re being creative on a daily basis.
Many of your ideas will be forgotten and lost in the dark, but some will have the potential to really change the world as we know it. And in that simple notion alone, you are in fact a genius because you are creating!

You’re totally right. As my mind shot off in a hundred directions two nights ago and as I stumbled upon absolutely amazing, entirely unique and creative concepts founded upon my firm understanding of business, I stopped and told myself, “Oh my gosh, I really am a genius.”
It was at that moment that I really understood the true meaning of genius, and I’ll bet you a hundred bucks that most of those dictionary writers have no clue what they’re talking about, lol.
True genius comes from creativity founded upon understanding. And that’s where Simone de Beauvoir’s comment about genius being learned comes from… because to truly understand, you must truly learn and once you have done so, you can extrapolate and utilze meaningful creativity.
