Business Moods

I don’t know about you guys, but I get business moods. One day I’ll feel like I’m on top of the world with my business and how things are going, and others days I’ll feel like everything is falling apart because things just aren’t going my way.

I consider myself extremely determined, because no matter how low I can get at times, I still push along and persevere. I think that’s what really makes and entrepreneur an entrepreneur: having the will to continue on no matter what – having the fight in you to push through all obstacles and problems that arise.

There seems to be this inverse relationship with how entrepreneurs handle success and problems. On the one hand, we praise ourselves for the smallest gains and on the other hand, we kill ourselves for the smallest errors – shouldn’t it be the other way around?

Wouldn’t it make more sense to brush of the little things and overlook the small successes because they aren’t really that substantial? Well, no. The entrepreneur should praise all measures of success and take all mistakes and problems seriously; no matter how small they are.

Why? Because the mini-successes are what count the most and build up our confidence levels to accomplish even bigger goals; and even the small problems need to be taken seriously in order for us to really learn and grow from our mistakes and obstacles that come our way.

Let your moods guide you and help you understand that even the little things matter. Don’t worry you aren’t crazy or have bi-polar, you’re just an entrepreneur jumping for joy when things are excellent and enduring headaches when things are rough – that’s the life we chose and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

I guess we all have ups and downs, but what realy matters at the end of the day is, what have you got. If one feels good by completing even the smallest task, then consider a day successful. Even if this small task is learning from your mistake.

I think, if you work on your own projects, you have a win - win situation. Always. You can’t realy loose. It’s maybe just taking a little longer than you planned, but if you keep working, you’ll get there.

Some people don’t even have successful days hehe, so I guess having a thriving job will always come at an expense which are the days where everything seems to go way wrong… But when you get out of that you usually feel like you’ve kicked some arse.

Dave, I feel your frustrations. I’m going through my “business moods” with my last project, as well, but no matter how close I get to scrapping a project… the inner Entrepreneurial Spirit won’t allow it.

Give it time, it’s gonna be big! I feel it! :)

Hey David!

Thanks for the comment :) I’ve been following along your blog as well for a while now and I think it’s great. I definitely agree entrepreneurs shouldn’t take their successes lightly as confidence is most certainly part of the process. We should really throw around some ideas sometime. You know my e-mail :)
